Questions and AnswersWhat will you say about the work you've done at the end of your career?
I followed my vision, called the hard questions and used art and science to work on really hard public problems. I'm proud my projects affected thousands of lives. I used my gifts, which I didn't always understand, to create new and effective solutions. I had a lot of guts, took big risks and somehow found the power to go for it way ahead of the curve.Where do you go for inspiration?
Anywhere people are having smart conversations. I am also inspired by little babies and animals. How do you build resilience into your work & company?
Making sure we are an open system. What keeps you up at night?
Deep concern about our changing social and political context. The disappearance of our social contract and the rapid nature of this change. What gets you up in the morning?
It's a new day.How is your work cross-cultural?
I would say culturally competent. I work with principles of practice which can be adopted in culturally diverse ways. My methods are neutral and purposely designed to translate across organizational, ethnic, community, discipline and sector differences.
I'm passionate about public sector innovation, design thinking, systems change, community engagement and participation, applied evaluation and the role of technology in the bigger picture. I'm particularly interested in translating research into practice, ideas into action, leveraging resources, talent and dollars, increasing effective public design and services and reducing redundancy. I design new programs addressing "wicked" challenges. This is fun to me.
