Questions and Answers

What will you say about the work you've done at the end of your career?

I do believe in the value of the journey, not the destination. So, I’d hope that my retrospective would reveal a healthy dose of constant learning and challenge, success and failure, and good friends along the way. I doubt I will remember the “jobs” themselves (already forgotten a few.)

Where do you go for inspiration?

Anything involving my 2 and 4 year old children, Alek & Ana. Their eyes, their world… Large, empty rooms (put a piano or guitar in them, and I’m deadly) Edmund Morris’, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. I re-read a chapter when I feel things closing in. That man was a tornado.

How do you build resilience into your work & company?

I was recently reminded of the difference between being smart versus being intelligent. For me, resiliency is probably best achieved by knowing which you’ll strive to be at any given time. They are not the same and neither are any two given events between people and/or companies – resilience is the result set of well-timed skills.

What keeps you up at night?

Problem solving. There HAS to be a way…

What gets you up in the morning?

The broad smile, hug and kiss from my little ones – as if you have been gone on a long, long trip and have just returned. And from my wife. That’s all I need.

How is your work cross-cultural?

After college, I went to film school to tell stories and now, though certainly not in the movie business, I feel I am still telling stories - through design, through technology, through interaction.. Drama, comedy, history, love – isn’t that cross-cultural? Besides, my Spanish is pretty bad.

Bio:

I’ve been part of pioneering services and software companies; recently growing my skills in leading global business development teams for some notable Brand, Design and Interactive agencies. I grew up in Colorado, was schooled in Boston, have a MFA from NYU in Film and play hockey every Wed. night.
